MTW’s project in Fairmont, WV, serves the local community in a Christ-centered mercy ministry capacity by repairing homes, developing close relationships with the host families, and encouraging children and young people through outreach activities. Through relational evangelism, teams are able to express their faith and love in Christ to those who might never attend church. In addition, the individuals who come to Fairmont to serve are changed as they meet Christ through these events and return to their local churches, providing encouragement and energy for personal and church growth.

About Fairmont

Fairmont is an exciting and rewarding challenge for those who have no previous missions experience and for those who have missions experience. In fact, many churches send teams year after year because of the relationships they have formed. It is especially well suited for middle and high school groups, college students, and families with children; however, many churches send all adult teams as well.

The work is set in Fairmont, WV, so the "coal country" culture is somewhat different than the culture teams are used to. Teams partner with Christ Community Church (PCA) as they serve in mercy ministry. They repair homes in the community while developing close relationships with the homeowner. These relationships will lead to opportunities to share the gospel. Additional ministry opportunities may include: backyard Bible clubs, VBS, sports camps in local parks, working the kitchen at camp, tutoring and one-on-one evangelism.

Team building and individual Christian growth occur as the gospel is demonstrated in both word and deed. Accommodations are provided at Dayspring Camp in Fairmont, West Virginia. Each day will conclude with evening worship which includes music and a dynamic message. Team members will need to bring their own tools and provide their own transportation.
