1 to 2 Week Mission Trips

Great movements in missions have almost always been led by young people—young people with a heart and passion for the glory of Christ.

From the Great Awakening in the 1730s to modern times, an army of young missionaries has scattered to the four corners of the earth. Many went out never expecting to see their families again. Some died of disease within a few years. A few were martyred. All made great sacrifices.

In the words of missionary William Carey, these men and women believed they could "attempt great things for God and expect great things from God."

Everybody knows what missions is. Well, don’t they?

So what would you say it is? Is it feeding the homeless? Picking up trash? Loving on children who are hurting? Is it evangelizing the lost?

Hmm. Maybe we just think everyone has the same definition of missions.

This is the part where we tell you what we think

Did you ever think about the gospel as a story? That’s how we think of it. It’s a love story—the story of redemption that is told from Genesis to Revelation. So we believe missions is sharing that story by telling it and by showing it. Telling and showing—word and deed—are both a part of our mission.

There’s one more thing. We believe God’s plan for communicating the story centers around the Church. Actually, we could say that the Church is what we are all about. The imperfect, sometimes embarrassing and struggling bride of Christ. Yeah, that Church. Believing in the Church is why church planting is the cornerstone of our mission. It’s why we always work through local churches wherever we go. The goal of telling and showing the story is to build Christ’s kingdom by growing His Church. So we try to work so that God gets the glory and the local church gets the credit.

How about you? Are you in?

There are three ways you can know God is calling you to missions:

    • Conan O’Brien appears with angel wings telling you to go to Asia
    • God’s voice interrupts the music on your iPod with specific instructions
    • You open a Dove chocolate with the message, "Here You Are. I Am Sending You."

What if none of these things happen?

You may not have a dramatic experience. Few missionaries do. Your story may begin with reading this website or a blog, watching a video, or hearing a story from a friend.

Your experience will be unique.

So start now. Pray. Ask God for opportunities.

What if you go for two weeks? How about a summer? Or a couple of years?

Your missions experience will change the way you live your life.

Let us help. Why wait? Conan O’Brien isn’t going to show...

Well. You've realized that God has called you to go, serve, and give of yourself. But what if you aren’t sure you have what it takes?

Are you interested in teaching English in another country, but don't know where to begin? How about leading a discipleship group? Running a sports clinic? Responding to a disaster?  Mentoring another believer? Hosting a VBS?

Or maybe you’d like to learn how to apply gifts and skills you already have in a cross cultural setting.

Having specific skills can help your ministry be more effective. And each new opportunity and experience is a point of growth and a step forward in serving Christ.

Check out these opportunities—we'd love to help you grow. But in the end, it is Christ who will go with you. And you'll learn to depend on Him as never before.
