Current ministry highlights:
In 2011, MTW’s efforts in Haiti transitioned from disaster response to rebuilding. Our present work is concentrated in three areas:
Docine/Gonaives: MTW teams built a church and are completing a school, which now has 120 children in attendance. Parents there have become more invested in their children's education and efforts have been made to improve the quality of instruction. In addition, a well was dug to serve the school, which had no water, and medical education about cholera prevention was provided.
La Plaine: MTW, in partnership with Reformation Hope, has helped to rebuild both the La Plaine church and school, which were heavily damaged in the earthquake. We have been assisting with an agricultural project there as well.
Port-au-Prince: Construction teams have been working with nationals to build apartments for five families who were living on the street. The apartments contain a space on the first floor for the occupants to use for street vending.
