For decades, pastors in the Nagoya area prayed for a seminary where young people could be trained for gospel ministry. Ministries of Christ Bible Institute (CBI) now include a graduate-level seminary, a downtown outreach to young people, and a church planting ministry called All Nations Fellowship. Recently God graciously provided a prime piece of real estate in the heart of downtown Nagoya, and CBI was able to move into a new ministry campus just 300 meters from Nagoya Station.
The vision of the CBI Team (Christ Bible Institute) is to ENGAGE Japanese society with the gospel, EXPAND the kingdom of God through church planting, and to EQUIP leaders in the gospel. Though the nation of Japan is one of the greatest mission challenges of the world—only 0.2 percent attend a Protestant church—the country has entered a season of unprecedented spiritual openness as a result of the recent earthquake and tsunami. The CBI ministries are uniquely situated to take advantage of this new openness to the gospel.
