In the time of Patrick, Columba, and Columbanus, Ireland was the country from where the gospel spread anew to the British Isles, France, and back through the rest of Northern and Central Europe. However, the church lost her first love over the centuries. In recent years, however, due to widespread adoption of European postmodernism and scandal in the Roman Catholic church, there is a generation of people who have never heard about the person and work of Jesus. There is a new openness to hearing about grace, forgiveness, and redemption only through Christ alone.
MTW works with the local Presbyterian Church in Ireland (PCI) congregations to build up existing small churches through evangelism so they become self-supporting, and to help plant PCI daughter churches out of existing stronger congregations. We are looking for people with a love for Christ, a deep desire to take His gospel to the Irish in the context of church revitalization and church planting, and the ability to make cultural adjustments in the absence of day-to-day assistance from existing missionaries.
