Help Reignite the Birthplace of the Reformation with the Gospel

The Czech Republic has a remarkable Christian past. Once a major seat of power for the Holy Roman Empire, and home of the reformer Jan Hus, whose preaching helped prepare the way for the Protestant Reformation, it is now one of Europe’s most secular nations. In Prague, “The Heart of Europe,” the need for the gospel today is urgent where less than 1% of Czechs regularly attend a religious service of any kind.

Dawson and Shanna Bean serve with Mission to the World in Prague, continuing their calling to bring the hope of Christ to post-Christian Europe. Their ministry focuses on sharing the gospel with Czechs and internationals, discipling believers, and strengthening local churches through preaching, evangelism, pastoral care, discipleship, and leadership development.

Prague’s diverse international community, who make up about 25% of the capital’s residents, also provides opportunities to engage people from many cultures and religious backgrounds, including those who’ve never meaningfully encountered Christianity. Through personal relationships, Bible studies, hospitality, and involvement in the life of the church, the Beans seek to introduce people to Jesus Christ and help new believers grow in grace.

As they deepen their roots in Czech language and culture, their desire is to see healthy, gospel-centered churches planted and flourishing, and the good news of Jesus spread throughout Prague and beyond.
