2023 PCA COMPASSION OFFERING
Hurricane Ian struck Cuba in the middle of the night.
A 136-mph wind snatched the roof off Pastor Yalexis’ neighbors’ house. Pastor Yalexis quickly evacuated the family to his home. They trembled and cried together while Hurricane Ian furiously devastated western Cuba.
Since that horrible morning on September 27, 2022, life has been difficult for Pastor Yalexis and the people in Pinar del Rio. His neighbors lived with him for a week and then moved under a plastic tent. His own roof and the church’s roof laid in pieces. The power grid was shaky and food was rotting.
But Pastor Yalexis did not have to rebuild alone.
Thanks to donations to the MTW Compassion Fund, we were able to send immediate relief to this church and community.
“Thank you! We have been able to see the hand of God working … The impact of the practical gospel has been felt in the church and community, the brothers exalt God for His wonders, and the neighbors give good testimony of what is happening in our church.”
— Pastor Yalexis, Psalm 46:3-8
Every year the Compassion Fund enables our missionaries and national partners to respond to urgent situations in their communities, meeting physical needs and sharing the love of Christ. We are grateful for your past support.
*Funds received by MTW as part of a disaster response appeal are used for relief and recovery, construction, travel for response teams, and related needs as well as for longer-term rebuilding and church planting. Exceptionally, when there are unspent funds, they will be used in future disaster and compassion situations.
