Beck, Norman & Julie

Serving in United States | Acct # 10845

Norman grew up wandering the streets of Lima, Peru, not knowing a family until God led him to a home for street kids. There his old life continued until the age of 17 when he was adopted by a missionary family. As Christ began working in his heart, he overcame his addiction to drugs and other self-seeking habits he’d learned on the streets. Following high school Norman completed his B.A. in Spanish literature at Mercer University in Atlanta. During college his strong call to missions was made clearer as he ministered to international students and served two summers in Cherokee, N.C.

Julie grew up in Key West, Fla., one of nine in a pastor’s family. She served twice on one-week trips to Jamaica as a high school student. For college Julie moved to Tampa where she earned a B.A. in psychology. As God continued to foster Julie’s call to missions in her college years, she had opportunity to serve three different times in Cherokee, one as a summer intern.

As Norman and Julie return to Cherokee, where they met, they go to share the hope of Christ to Native American youth and young adults through their gifts of mercy and hospitality.
