David and Danielle share many commonalities: growing up in Connecticut, coming to Christ in their 20s, and a call to missions, but how they arrived in Viña del Mar, Chile, is God’s story. Danielle studied in Chile and it was the MTW Chile team who shared the gospel with her. David, already a Christian, had begun to pursue missions, but it wasn’t until 2008, that God brought them together for His unique purpose to serve among some of Chile’s “disposable” peoples—the disabled and their families.

The Grottons’ vision is to share the gospel of grace through their work at CEMIPRE (the ministry center for blind people) and as members of a local church. At CEMIPRE, they provide training and spiritual, emotional, and physical support to people with disabilities and their families. Danielle is executive director of CEMIPRE. She oversees the ministry as it seeks to minimize the consequences of disability through orientation and mobility (cane travel), Braille and adaptive technology classes, as well as Bible studies, mentoring, home visitations, and equipping the church to reach out to those with special needs. David’s role includes regular engagement with U.S. donors, coordination of short-term teams, and mentoring Chilean men.

David and Danielle have two sons.
