Johnson, Melanie

When she first went to Japan on an MTW internship after high school, Melanie had no idea how deeply God would use that experience to shape and solidify her call to missions. During that time, the great 2011 earthquake and tsunami struck Japan, and her heart for that country grew even more, as did her desire to serve in Japan long-term.

During two internships and a three-year span as a short-term missionary with MTW, Melanie used her God-given gifts in children’s ministry, music, and Japanese language to show the light of Christ in a country overflowing with spiritual darkness. She is overjoyed to return to Chiba, Japan, where she will help with church planting, organizing the youth ministry, and assisting a local church. She longs for Jesus to reflect His love and the truth of the gospel through her in a land where less than 1% of the population professes faith in the one true God. Please pray for the harvest work in Japan!
