COVID-19: Jason & Gizaw in Ethiopia (VIDEO)

When the church congregation in the Suki neighborhood of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, decided to stop meeting because of COVID-19, they knew they wouldn’t have the technological workarounds for the church to gather virtually. Instead, pastors Jason and Gizaw took to the phone to call and check in with members of the congregation, most of whom are impacted by HIV/AIDS or other chronic health issues, and many of whom are out of work.
In this vulnerable population, life is day to day. Day jobs provide food for that day and no work is a real concern. Thankfully Jason and Gizaw have been able to make use of MTW Compassion funds to help meet some of the basic needs of the community during this critical time. They’re also finding unique ways to minister and disciple people, and are praying for wisdom for how to creatively meet even more needs going forward.
