MTW Announces Midwest Hub Director Owen Tarantino

This year, MTW set in motion a plan to launch two regional hubs at strategic locations across the U.S. This is part of an overall strategy to grow in diversity and number of missionaries, adapt to an increasingly changing national and international context, and innovate in order to more effectively advance the kingdom of God throughout the world.

Now, MTW is pleased to announce that the Midwest Hub will be led by Chesterfield Presbyterian Church Associate Pastor Dr. Owen Tarantino. The West Coast Hub, as mentioned in a previous article, will be led by longtime MTW missionary Mike Pettengill.

"I am very excited about the development of a new MTW Hub here in the Midwest,” said Owen. “As I talk with church leaders, students, and MTW Presbytery leaders, it's clear to me that there's a renewed vision and calling toward global missions. The Midwest Hub will provide an opportunity for MTW to come alongside—in an ongoing way—those God is raising up to serve on the mission field."

Prior to beginning his service in the pastorate, Owen worked as a computer programmer, served in campus ministry with CRU, and earned his master of divinity from Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Since 1995 he has served as associate pastor of Chesterfield Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield, Missouri, helping to revitalize the church, lead small groups ministry, and build, train, and lead the staff team, earning his doctor of ministry degree from Covenant Seminary along the way. He has also been involved in helping the church connect with ongoing relationships in their city, across North America, and around the world.  Now, as head of MTW’s Midwest Hub, Owen will be able to help even more churches throughout the region to connect with global missions opportunities.

"The Midwest region of the U.S. is filled with a growing diversity of seminaries, college ministries, and biblically sound churches—fertile ground for God to raise up new missionaries,” said Owen. “The Midwest Hub, based in St. Louis, will be a strategic center for connecting and mentoring new MTW missionaries right here in our region."
