HELP REFUGEES IN ATHENS, GREECE

You're Invited!

Teams needed to support church-planting efforts in Athens Greece. Working with the Greek Evangelical Church which has a great heart for the city with several church plants that have intentional involvement with refugees. GEC designed the Center of Hope, a safe haven for women and children for respite —a place for tea, a place for their kids to play, a place to receive basic necessities, and a place to feel human for a little bit.  Won’t you come and help this church follow in the footsteps of Paul?

COMMON QUESTIONS

Ministry Description
Tell me more about the ministry!

The First Greek Evangelical Church of Athens, established in 1858, which stands between Mars Hill and the Temple of Zeus, has a vision to follow Paul’s path as expressed in their slogan “Within the City For His Glory.” They have issued a call for volunteers to join with them in this ancient vision of reaching Athens. Their desire is to be a Christian community with a redemptive presence in the city, sharing the gospel with their fellow Athenians, whose hearts are seeking good news.

Project Vision and Goals
How do short-term teams help?

The church in Athens, Greece is in desperate need of assistance. Thousands of refugees have been flooding in Athens over the last few years and the church is responding in a myriad of ways. The refugee flow has slowed down considerably due to European Union agreements which means that thousands of refugees are now in a “holding” pattern in Athens. People are camped at the port, are in refugee centers.  While things are now more stable, the crisis is urgent and church members are exhausted. The Greek Church is requesting teams to provide volunteers with a much-needed break.
