From July to September 2017, the worst monsoon floods in decades swept through South Asia, affecting more than 45 million people and killing nearly 1,300. The hill region, where a school run by a local Presbyterian church is located, was hit particularly hard. Floods and landslides ruined most of the crops, and the school was badly damaged from gale force winds.

In the midst of the chaos and loss, an MTW team in South Asia brought relief through the PCA Compassion Fund. Area church and community leaders distributed bags of rice to 13 villages, helping feed 470 families whose homes and harvests had been devastated by the flooding. They also renovated the damaged school and added brand new latrines. This critical assistance opened many doors for gospel ministry.

This year, will you help us extend compassion to a world in need?

What is the Compassion - Global Disaster Response Fund?

Through the years, your generous gifts to our Compassion Fund have enabled us to respond quickly to crises that touch our missionaries and their communities around the world. Urgent needs are met with medical and construction assistance, food and shelter for displaced families, and personal care and counseling for victims of natural disasters, among other things. In each case, your gifts are connected to MTW's church-planting efforts.
