Kreider, Derek & Catalina

Serving in Romania | Acct # 14088

PERSONAL NOTE

In Romania, the word "community" stirs up images of "communism" rather than a loving spiritual family. The population espouses a nominal Orthodox religion, but there is a growing exodus from the church. Because of the institutionalized and legalistic state churches, many are biblically illiterate and are relying on legalism as hope for eternity. It is in this post-communist, post-Christian context that Derek and Catalina Kreider have been church planting since 2017.

Working with a team of American and Romanian national partners, Derek and Catalina serve a church plant with a vision to help identify, train, and resource young leaders for a nationally-led church-planting movement. While Derek works on his Master of Divinity degree with the PCA's LAMP Seminary, he also serves in the church's Kids Club, organizes various outreach projects, and works with the poor. Catalina homeschools their four children, mentors other young mothers, leads Bible studies, and helps with Sunday worship. Perhaps their most important ministry of all is practicing radical hospitality and demonstrating Christ-centered community.

Pray for the Kreiders to be wise stewards of the ministries entrusted to them and faithful sowers among the Romanian people, as they await the Lord to change hearts and further His kingdom in Transilvania.
