Jeong, Mark & Esther

Serving in Japan | Acct # 400785

PERSONAL NOTE

Japan is a country with great spiritual needs. Only 0.3% of the population is Christian, making Japanese the second largest unreached people group in the world. The church in Japan is also struggling; only 2% of pastors are between the ages of 30 and 40, so there is a critical need to train the next generation of church leaders. Japan also has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, particularly among pregnant and postpartum women. This points to a deep need for the gospel.

Mark and Esther hope to serve the Japanese through theological education and discipleship. They met at Cornell University where God first gave them a heart for missions. To that end, Mark earned an M.Div at Westminster Seminary and a doctorate in New Testament at Duke University. Esther has been working as a pediatrician for the past several years with the hope that God would use her professional skills to further His kingdom abroad. They will join the Christ Bible Institute team in Nagoya, where Mark will serve as a professor of New Testament, while Esther will use her medical background to reach out to mothers and women.

Please consider partnering with them for the advance of the gospel in Japan!
