While serving his local church, Korean Central Presbyterian Church, as a missions leader and youth pastor, David’s call to missions was pruned and cultivated. In 2018, David visited Japan for a vision trip, heading into the trip with a broken heart for those who do not know Jesus. During this vision trip, David felt his heart for the unreached deepen, and the seed of his call to make disciples for Jesus in Japan was planted.
Given that Japan is home to the second-largest unreached people group, with roughly 0.5% of the 125.5 million people living in Japan professing to be Christian, David was led to pray for every person that he saw during his vision trip. Since there are so few Christians in Japan, David knew that his prayer for a Japanese person could be the only prayer that the individual would ever receive in their life.
Since his initial vision trip, David has completed his M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania and was ordained as a teaching elder in the PCA. He is currently serving as a church-planting assistant at Kaihin Makuhari Grace Church (KMGC), in the Chiba/Greater Tokyo area. David’s hope and prayer is that Japan would become reached as a means for God’s kingdom to expand through the rest of the unreached nations.
