Spence, Joel

Serving in Poland | Acct # 400376

Joel Spence is a graduate of Texas A&M and Reformed Theological Seminary. He is a teaching elder in the North Texas Presbytery. His home church is Trinity Presbyterian Church in Boerne, Texas.

Initially Joel came to Krakow, Poland, to help with Mission to the World’s humanitarian aid effort in Ukraine. While working in Krakow he felt God calling him to remain in Poland as a missionary to that country. He will be joining the local Reformed church, Christ the Savior Presbyterian Church (Kościół Chrystusa Zbawiciela), which he has grown to love. Joel has had a strong call toward the mission field since his time in seminary. He has a desire to be involved in Poland working towards planting churches, discipling new believers, leadership training, and providing theological training.

Joel is married to Katya, who was originally born in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. Katya attended the Church of the Holy Trinity in Lviv, an MTW church plant, since 2015. She is a graduate of Lviv Polytechnic University and also worked as a program manager in the Business School of Ukrainian Catholic University. She moved to Poland after the war started. During the early months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine she worked in the church’s shelter that was provided for displaced people from Ukraine. She has been an encouragement to many and a hostess to those in need over this crisis.

Come alongside the Spence family as they work along local nationals to proclaim Christ’s glory to the people of Poland so that they will know that He is Lord and Savior and worthy of worship.
