PACIFIC ISLANDS
Throughout the Pacific Islands, a theologically weak, cultural Christianity is pervasive. Because church leaders often do not have a great degree of biblical understanding, theological education and gospel coaching are foundational to the task of church planting. In the remote South Pacific islands of Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, American Samoa, and Tonga, there is a tremendous need to support and encourage church leaders so they can become better equipped to teach and shepherd their flocks.
MTW is partnering with several Reformed, Presbyterian churches in Australia and New Zealand to reach these islands—an initiative called the Island-to-Island partnership—with a goal to foster a church planting and revitalization movement. Our team will strive to assist in this by recruiting, assessing, training, and resourcing new and existing church leaders, by providing and promoting sound theological education, and by fostering partnerships with Reformed churches in Hawai’i.
