GONAIVES, HAITI
Haiti’s history is fraught with conflict, foreign interference, and government mismanagement. Today, it has the lowest Human Development Index score of any country in the Americas, widespread poverty, and is in a frequent state of political turmoil. It also has spiritual troubles, with voodoo still dominating in many parts of the country.
Living Stone Reformed Mission, MTW’s ministry in Haiti, has been working in the city of Gonaives since 2006. Here, MTW Haiti focuses on church planting, training Christian leaders and church planters at a local seminary, and running Dociné Christian Academy—a village school that provides a good Christian education, basic medical care, and a free meal every school day to more than 500 children. Amidst crushing poverty and intense spiritual warfare, MTW Haiti strives for the kingdom, aiming to see individual lives changed and communities transformed by the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the country.
